Summer Series: The United States Bankruptcy Court

July 2, 2019
3:15 pm - 5:00 pm

Bryan Simpson U.S. Courthouse
300 N. Hogan Street
Jacksonville FL 32202

Welcome to federal court! The Summer Series is designed for law students working in Jacksonville and nearby areas. The goal is to bring to life much of what is studied in law school. Information about all eight events is available here.

Most of us have had some type of debt: credit cards, student loans, medical bills. And sometimes, that debt becomes overwhelming. The process of bankruptcy helps individuals and businesses craft a plan to clear their debts and reorganize their financial lives. Hear how bankruptcy law impacts virtually every area of practice from Jason Burgess, Esquire, and then join the Honorable Jerry Funk, United States Bankruptcy Judge, for a casual Q&A lunch.

This event will be held at the Bryan Simpson United States Courthouse, Trustee’s Office (ground floor) for presentation and Clerk’s Office Conference Room (9th floor) for lunch

This event is limited to 20 students. Please RSVP by using the below form.

If you have questions regarding this event, you are welcome to email Derek Mountford,

Also, a few reminders: All Summer Series events are free. All events require business attire. You must have a valid i.d. to enter the courthouse. Each event requires a reservation, spaces are limited, and most events “sell out.” Be mindful that if you make a reservation, a seat will be saved for you and food will be bought for you. If you cannot attend, immediately contact Katharine Roth at (904) 549-1950 so your seat can be given to someone else.

Thank you and we look forward to having you join us!

This event has reached capacity and registration is now closed. Thank you for your interest. We hope that you are able to join us for a future event.
