Most of us have had debt: credit cards, student loans, medical bills. Sometimes, that debt becomes overwhelming. Bankruptcy helps individuals and businesses craft a plan to clear their debts and reorganize their financial lives. This event features a presentation on bankruptcy practice by Bankruptcy Judge Jason Burgess, followed by a casual pizza lunch in a bankruptcy courtroom with him and Bankruptcy Judges Jerry Funk and Jacob Brown.

The Summer Series is sponsored by the Bench Bar Fund of the Middle District of Florida and the Jacksonville Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. The Summer Series is open to all law students working in Jacksonville for the summer.  Events in the courthouse are in the Bryan Simpson U.S. Courthouse, 300 North Hogan Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202.  Parking information will be emailed before each event.  A photo identification is required for courthouse entry.  Note that events have space limitations. If you RSVP, you are taking a space and food is being ordered for you. If after you RSVP you cannot attend, you must contact (904) 549-1950 in time for another student to take your place. Professional attire must be worn.
