Litigation Ethics: Key Issues – Presented by Tom Spahn

Date/Time
Friday, October 7, 2022 – 8:30 to 10:00 AM

Location
Bryan Simpson United States Courthouse

Please join us for breakfast with one of the nation’s top ethics lawyers, Tom Spahn. Mr. Spahn will present an entertaining and interactive ethics course using hypotheticals to explore topics of interest to litigators (and transactional lawyers whose clients might face litigation). This interactive program uses hypotheticals to explore situations in which lawyers’ interests might conflict with their clients’ interests, including: (1) how and when ethics rules apply to lawyers’ non legal activities; (2) the ins-and-outs of doing business with clients; (3) accepting gifts from clients; (4) representing unpopular clients; (5) the permissibility of lawyers’ agreements to limit their practice in partnership agreements or in litigation settlements; (6) limiting liability to clients; (7) disclosing malpractice to clients; (8) resolving disputes with clients; (9) file ownership after representations end; and (10) the duty to protect former clients. Attendees will receive Ethics CLE.
